Video of the Week

Miia Maria's rendition of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" single is magical. She is very talented on the piano for such a young age. I hope she continues to understand that whatever she does in life, keep on going. You were born this way to achieve greatness, the only thing stopping you is yourself. You go girl. I'm glad Lady Gaga tweeted this video. I hope you love it as well.

The Best 2011 SuperBowl Commercials

Posted by Lady Mel On Monday, February 7, 2011 0 comments

I may not be a big football fan, but it was a good game between the Packers and Steelers. The Steelers almost had a chance at victory during the third quarter, but the Packers came back on top and won their fourth Superbowl championship. It was not the game that bothered me.

What disappointed me this year is the lack of creative Superbowl commercials. Many advertising firms and companies lack the creative input to market their brands to new consumers efficiently. Screw the stereotypical gender and sex jokes. You professionals are not fifteen years old anymore. Why would I want to use Groupon or BigDaddy.com as online services when their commercials pretty much sucked? Do you want to know what was my least favorite Superbowl XLV commercial? Hint: It was not the Best Buy/Justin Bieber one.

Sketchers

I think I have lost more respect for Kim Kardashian when I had little to begin with. She whined about Ray-J posting her sex video on the Internet a couple years back because it violated her privacy and then recently, she whined on her E! reality show about W magazine posting her nude. Yet, she did not mind starring in this Superbowl commercial, 'faking sex' to try to get people like me to buy sneakers! Seriously, how much did Sketchers pay her to do this?! And this is the reason why I don't follow her on Twitter or take her seriously as a celebrity.

Volkswagen and Chrysler

I liked these two particular commercials because they represented two qualities every commercial should possess: realism and creativity. The Volkswagen-Darth Vader commercial was very sweet and funny because I love when brands incorporate a childlike imagination and whimsical nature into their advertising. Volkswagen knew this commercial would be a virtual hit because everyone loves Star Wars and no one can resist little kids. The commercial made people relate to the brand more intimately.

Plus I love watching little kids play dress up. I do that all the time (in my own special way) and it was funny to see how the little girl embodied Darth Vador's character throughout the whole commercial, especially the part where she thinks her imaginary telekinetic powers activated the Volkawagen when it was actually her father in the kitchen. I also like that Volkswagen played around with gender ambiguity. I thought it was a little boy at first, but you only see the stereotypical pink room in the house so I would presume its a little girl. If it is not, then it's fine. Little girls can still be Darth Vador when they grow up!

I also enjoyed the Chrysler commercial with rapper-superstar Eminem. It was probably the only commercial that addressed the real issues of this country right now: high unemployment and deindustrialization. I am glad that Chrysler put Eminem in the commercial because as a Detroit native, he embodies Detroit with his hardcore, poignant rap songs about his difficult childhood and love life. Perhaps Chrysler is making an effort to bring back car manufacturing jobs to Detroit.

Chrysler probably still outsources their labor in places like Mexico and India, but it offers the American people a U.S product and the choice to buy the car to help stimulate the economy and the pockets of American workers who work at the Chrysler plants to make the cars. I think after writing that last sentence, I do not know if I should hate the company for potentially outsourcing millions of American jobs overseas, but nowadays most U.S companies do it. You just have to adapt to the times. What were your favorite and least favorite Superbowl ads this year?

New Windows Phone 7 Ad is Brilliant!

Posted by Lady Mel On Tuesday, October 12, 2010 2 comments

Smart-phone users are insane. My sister is one and I can imagine how much time she spends on her Sprint E-Vo everyday. I recently participated in a Harvard Business Review discussion on Linkedin.com about the use of texting while in a meeting or other social function. People these days are using technology and forgetting how to conduct themselves in even the most intimate settings like the bedroom as shown in the YouTube clip. I am a product of this phenomenon, I admit. Five seconds after watching "The Social Network", I told Radale that I was going to log onto Facebook to check my updates once I returned home, despite my harsh criticism of the film. And I did.

Luckily, I do not have the luxury of owning or using a smart phone because of my financial situation or I would have been enchanted by the screen of a iPhone 4 or Android. I am aware of Microsoft's slow process to produce a reliable smart phone over the years, but I guess now you have to save say the best for last, right? But this commercial is absolutely brilliant.

From a marketing perspective, Microsoft wants us to understand as the audience that, "Smart phones are bad, but smart phone users are even worse. We have to mock other smart phone brands like Apple and RIM because it is fun and legal. But the new Windows 7 Phone is also a smart phone but who cares because our commercial is so epic." Love the concept, Microsoft!

How did you like the commercial?

Lady Mel has stroke gold yet again. The day before the midnight opening of the third Twilight film, Eclipse last week, she sat down with its three most noticeable stars: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner in LA. Disclaimer: Lady Mel is not a Twilight fan by the way.....

Lady Mel: (cheerfully) Good afternoon folks. How is everyone doing?
Taylor: (Smiles) I am fantastic. We will start filming Breaking Dawn very soon and we can't wait.

Kristen: Yeah, we are doing great actually. So excited to promote this movie. (All three nod in agreement).

Lady Mel: Before we start, you all know that I am a straightforward, canining bitch, right?

Kristen, Taylor, and Robert union “Yes”.

Lady Mel: (In a slight posh accent): That’s very lovely to hear. I see you have all done your homework. (Returns to her accent). My first question goes to you, Taylor. A recent NYMag,com article predicted your profitability and success as a future male action hero. Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years in the entertainment industry?

Taylor: I don’t know. I am just enjoying the Twilight ride right now. I have a couple of other movie projects coming out next year, so lets see what happens.

LadyMel: I honestly hope you have a backup plan, dear. Take some more acting classes and you will do just fine.

Taylor (puzzled look on face):......

Lady Mel: So Kristen, darling. What is with your facial expressions lately? Smile more. Is Robert not giving you any lately?

Robert: (Angrily). Hey miss! That is none of your business! And stop with the pose English accent. Not even close.

Kristen: (In a calm voice): No, Robert. It’s fine. (Looks in LadyMel’s direction) LadyMel, I am a quiet person and on the red carpet, you won’t see a lot of vibrant, jubilant facial expressions from me. If you follow my career, you would have known.

LadyMel: (Smirks) Which comes to my next question. Why should your fans watch Eclipse? I found it lackluster myself. Why does Hollywood hired you three to do these parts when there is no good acting in these movies. I know you guys are getting well-paid and famous off of this franchise, but where is the substance? I know it is not entirely your fault. But overall, my opinion does not count. (Robert smirks). Your screaming teenage, thirty-year-old #TeamEdward, #TeamJacob twi-hard fans are the ones buying up this crap and making you millionaires. (Takes a moment and smokes a cigarette).

Robert: (raises voice slightly) People should watch Eclipse because its an action-pack adventure with drama, cool CGI battles between vampires and wevewolves, and a sentimental, romantic storyline like with Buffy, one of my favorite TV series. Everyone loves a romantic movie.

LadyMel: But not everyone loves predicable, wash-out movies like the Twilight movies. And please don’t compare Buffy the Vampire Slayer to your movies. I can see a similar thread in terms of Buffy’s romantic relationship with Angel and your character’s relationship with Bella, but Buffy can kick your sparkling vampire ass anywhere, anytime. Plus, Buffy had awesome one-liners. Your movies are as dead as your career after Twilight.

Kristen: (Angry) Lady Mel, seriously what is your problem? Your Twilight bashing, your attitude, your criticism is pissing me off. Why are we here?

LadyMel: (Calm) Taylor’s agent was a jackass for asking me to do this gig. Everyone knows about my personality. I guess you haven’t done your homework. If you think that all movie critics are nice, think again. Welcome to Hollywood! (Smokes the cigarette).

Kristen: (Angry) I think I had enough for the day. Fuck you! (Holds middle finger in air and storms out of room, Taylor walks out to comfort her.)

Lady Mel: I hope you get hold of Kristen before Taylor. I don’t want your Team Edward fans all hot and bothered when they hear that Taylor is dating Kristen or should I say (seductively) Bella. Wow, this sounds so like the movie. (Robert runs out of room with his middle finger up as well).

(Takes another puff of her cigarette) I love my job. :)

Follow Your Yellow Brick Road!

Posted by Lady Mel On Tuesday, June 29, 2010 8 comments

The "You are Going Places" Award! Ray J, you should not have! Thanks hun! This award could not have come at a better time. I am a bit of a rut. Last week, I told you about my YouTube Culture and Trends Editor position dilemma. When I heard the job was filled through a Google recruiter,  I feel like I am going nothing in my life. You can take a look at my blog to get a glimpse of my bumpy road.

Since this discovery, I have been thinking quite profoundly about my future. In my mind. On the computer. Everywhere I cross. I do not know when recruiters will finally realize that I am more than a resume and interviewee. Perhaps, I am not doing enough to get their attention on my part. I just have to work a bit smarter, bolder, quicker, and harder to get what I want in life. Reinvention is a continuous cycle for me.

Despite my shortcomings, I always see the positive side at the end of the yellow brick road. Whether you are in circumstances worse and more incomprehensible than my own, if Dorothy got home with her red, glittery shoes, then you can click your heels three times hard enough to achieve your goals.

I appreciate that there are people out there like Ray-J and my social media family that are rooting for me to succeed. I am going places and with my witty charm and determination, there is no point in stopping me.

The main rule of this award was to answer the question: Where I will see myself in ten years?....Such as a vague question to begin a conversation with. What would a random person say?

Random person: Omg, I want to live in a big house out in the country with children and live happily after.

I am one of those people out there that don't have a year or 5 year plan all laid out because life is unpredictable. I do keep a weekly plan, my New Years Resolution, monthly goals, and blogging resolution, but I do not live by them each and every second of my life. Things happen that are out of my control. It is best to work your life around your goals. Have goals, not objectives; goals that are realistic and idealistic with a bit of flexibility thrown in.

So for instance, if you want to be an astronaut, you can be and there is no stopping you, but you have to understand that there are events that will be beyond our control. What if down the road a loved one passes away or a freak accident profoundly impacts the rest of your life and your goals? Did you have that listed on your 5-year plan? Think about it.

But I must answer the question. In 10 years, I would like to see myself out of my parent's house INDEFINITELY, a stable and innovative career that takes me out of my comfort zone, includes traveling of some sort, and helps me market the next generation of Internet and creative projects, an amazing NY loft, money to invest in and the opportunity to show the world that I am the baddest bitch out there. (Excuse my french! :D) And if this also counts, I sometimes imagine myself running the most influential and wealthiest company in the world and using that capital to save the world from yet another economic depression.

So where do I from here? Continue with my volunteer work, rebuild my skills and resume, network with more people, and use all my sheer power to impress the recruiters long enough to love me. And since I am a lovable, amazing Smithie with dreams and determination, I will never know what life has in store for me!

How do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?

Bad News, Another One Bites the Dust?

Posted by Lady Mel On Monday, June 21, 2010 2 comments

Hey everyone. I miss the sound of the keyboard as I stroke the keys to create another amazing blog post. All last week I was busy with my volunteer work and I did not have the time or energy to write more blog posts.  I promise that this week I will write up to three blog posts. I have everything planned out there ahead of schedule. I should have written a blog post last week stating that I was on another mini break, but it is too late.

Anyhow, I have some rather bad news. On June 16th, I found this amazing job opportunity, the You Tube Culture and Trends Editor position on Linkedin.com. I was so excited because I love new media and was in the process of completing the online job application. Last night and I will never forget this. I was talking to my mom in the dining room about the job position and she was like "Honey, I hope you get it done. You never know whether or not the job won't be there anymore." I confidently stated that Google/You Tube usually have their jobs posted within a one-month time frame minimum and that I had plenty of time to apply. Turns out, this morning as I was searching Linkedin.com and Google Jobs, I learned that Google/You Tube were no longer accepting job applications...... I felt a sharp pain in the back of my head from that moment on.

So here is my dilemma. I can walk away from the accident or use this opportunity to get things done. I scheduled a Wednesday phone interview with a friend of mine at the Smith College Career Development Office to review my resume and cover letter, but I might instead have him look at my resume, so it can be ready to go when the next job opportunity comes. I will try my very best to connect with a YouTube recruiter on Linkedin so that he or she could look over my job application. I am not backing away from this opportunity. I know what it feels to be unheard and I will not allow this one position slip away from me. God, I sound like someone who is eager to confess her love to her love interest. Hollywood, do not take my idea please! When you are passionate about something, you don't let a good opportunity pass you by. Otherwise, there is nothing in life worth fighting for.

I would like you to answer these questions because I need some guidance!

Were you in a similar situation beforehand? How did you handle this situation? Were there any consequences?

Video of the Week

I came across this disturbing video on BuzzFeed this Wednesday. Look. Look at our little girls growing up. What do you think?

Happy Mother's Day!

Posted by Lady Mel On Sunday, May 9, 2010 3 comments

Happy Mother's Day to all the women out there that have made our lives better each and every day. I want to thank all the women who died for our rights and continue to fight for our rights as human beings.

I believe their work and perseverance go extremely unnoticed and taken for granted in this world. So my gift to all the women out there, dead or alive, is a song off the debut album of one of my favorite pop girl groups of all time, the Spice Girls. It's called Mama.

Dial 911, The Final Season of 'The Boondocks' is Here!

Posted by Lady Mel On Tuesday, April 20, 2010 4 comments

Before I talk about my main topic, I would like to promote a good online friend of mine, Ron Calonje. He helped me promote my Alice in Twitterland article for the 2010 Talent Buzz Contest and I want to turn the favor by promoting his two Oakland rock bands, Dial 911 and Shinoco. If you are into indie rock and alternative rock music, these are bands for you. Sign up on those websites, listen to the songs, and help spread the word!

Anyway, let's get back to the program.

I am very excited for two particular TV shows this summer. The first one that I will discuss first is Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks. Many people do not like the show because of its excessive use of the n-word, violence, and its stereotypical portrayal of African-American urban culture. But if you were smart enough, you can pass the superficial imagery and get the real messages McGruder tries to convey in his show such as race, racism, and political/social satire. I personally take some meaningful philosophies from the cartoon, although I sometimes do not agree with him. Everyone has their own opinion about race, including myself.

On one hand, May 2th starts the end of the controversial cartoon series. On the other hand, I am particularly enthusiastic for this season because the last season aired before the 2008 U.S presidential elections, so I want to see how McGruder fits President Obama's controversial win into the discourse. Uncle Ruckus, the self-hating "black" male character on the TV series hates "black people" period, so it would be amazing to hear what he has to say about electing our first "black" president.

I also want to learn what McGruder thinks of the Tiger Woods sex scandal, the health care and financial reform debates, Wall Street's involvement with the economic recession, the GOP, and the Tea Party movement. I know he will address and attack some of these issues creatively and constructively. So, if you love political engagement, amazing martial-arts fights, Japanese anime, and leetness, watch the final season starting May 2, 2010 at 11:30pm on Cartoon Network. The trailer itself is so mind-bottling that McGruder will leave TV programming with a bang!

Top Ten Things You Missed at The 2010 Streamy Awards

Posted by Lady Mel On Monday, April 12, 2010 14 comments

Ok, so it was about 8:30pm EST last night. I was on Twitter of course. @ijustine tweeted that the 2nd Annual Streamy Awards was going live on its official website very soon. I was like cool, let me check it out. I had no clue with the show was about. So, I get on the website and read its About section and I was like excellent! There is actually an award shows devoted to celebrating the accomplishments of famous and upcoming vbloggers and geeks, YouTube stars, web TV shows, and web TV programming as a whole. For over three hours, I watched the show and tweeted away the best and worst moments of the night and oh what a night it was! Here are the main highlights of the show:

1. How can an award show that was shown via live stream on its official website and other sponsored outlets not only lagged on the Internet throughout the whole night, but was nearly ruined by technical difficulties in the middle of the show? Most of the "What It Takes to be Nominated" piece was not shown because the DVD that contained the video footage was damaged. Which begs the question? This was an awards show dedicated to Web TV and someone did not make sure the footage was properly working BEFORE the ceremony? Plus, you had the most tech-savvy people and producers in the world in one-room! How embarrassing?!  I blame Blizzard Entertainment or someone's iPad.

2. The host Paul Scheer, was a lot funnier than this year's Oscars hosts, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Actually, I enjoyed this show more than this year's Oscars. Humorously awful at times, but not boring.

3. Was it just me or the whole VH1 "Best Week Ever" cast was on stage last night?

4. During the technical downtime, two naked male streamers ran across the stage. Their private parts were not censored at all, so I bare witnessed to penises and balls right before my eyes. Oh my! But remember, this was live-streamed, not on TV, so it made the experience more memorable!

5. I saw a young couple walked out of the room during a comic skit at the beginning of the show. How rude.

6. I heard more sexual jokes and innuendos and saw more sexual groping on one stage (sorry LisaNova and Chad Hardwick lmao!) than a hardcore porn video. The stereotype about geeks is true, I guess! We may be innocent and geeky on the outside, but we are sexual freaks behind...closed.... doors..... I also saw David Faustino from Married With Children in only white boxers presenting an award. He was pretty hot though. Yum.

7. Chad Hurley, the CEO and Founder of YouTube won the Visionary Award for his extraordinary contributions to the online-sharing, web TV community. Without YouTube, we would not have online entertainment or Shane Dawson or Ijustine or the WhatTheBuckShow. Sadly, I did not know who Chad Hurley was as he was receiving the award, so I wiki his name during his speech. I felt like an idiot.

8.  Ironically, none of the winners were kicked off the  stage for going beyond the time limit to present their speeches. I found it a great relief. I just wish CBS and ABC granted more time for winners at the Grammys and Oscars.

9. Felicia Day, creator of the hit Web TV series, The Guild, delivered the best speech of the night in my opinion. She devoted her Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series award to the geek girls out there in the world, who are still underrepresented in the tech world. In return, I promise to watch the third season of The Guild with pride!

10. The Gregory Brothers pretty much nailed the first segment of their skit. They took a auto-tune beat and the first seconds of several, popular YouTube videos to create a new song. It was creative. The other half of their segment was bland but they managed to bring it all together with a vocal "speech" for winning the Best News or Political Web Series Award for  AutoTune for the News.

Despite the technical problems and excessively vulgar language, I enjoyed watching the show. I learned that there are a ton of popular Web TV shows out there that I am missing out on and now I have the opportunity to check them out on the Internet and possibly write about on my blog in the near future. Inspiration is all around us. I also learned that all the nominees worked very hard days and nights to produce new content, find the best actors and directors, and promote their brands online, similar to what I am doing right now with my blog. I look forward to viewing this awards ceremony next year without the delays and excessive amount of sexual jokes. Keep it short, smart, and entertaining. Winning formula right there!

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!

Tech Diva: Will YouTube Become The Next MTV?

Posted by Lady Mel On Tuesday, April 6, 2010 6 comments

When I was a senior at Smith College, I took a Sociology of Rock Music class. The last paper of my undergraduate career was all dedicated to the death of the cultural global brand that once was Music Television (MTV). My professor was a bit skeptical about the whole ordeal, you know. MTV was still around, even though YouTube and Myspace continued to dominate the online entertainment space. A year has passed. I could not have predicted such a catastrophe, if it was written across my forehead.

No more TRL. No more music. No more iconic MTV logo. Do not get me started on these dumb reality shows! Do you want to know why I will only watch MTV for the awards shows now? When I heard that the cast members of Real World: Jersey Shore were given $10,000 per episode contracts to produce a second season! Oh my fucking god. MTV, what have you done? You substituted a generation of wonderful music shows such as TRL, Diary, Fanatic, and MTV Jams for a bunch of tasteless, attention whores? MTV is like Tiger Woods. It was married to popular music and well-respected by celebrities who acknowledged it as the catalyst that launched their music careers. But it ended up sleeping with Snookie instead. (Thank god I do not watch Jersey Shore!). MTV has clearly lost its morals and is only here to cash in on the latest reality show craze it helped generate in the early 1990s instead of being relevant again.

YouTube could end up on the same path to self-destruction. Unlike MTV, I will continue to use YouTube to watch videos because it is still relevant to me. After reading Wired Magazine's "5 Secrets to YouTube Success" article, I realized that YouTube has come a long way since its founding in 2005. YouTube has transformed average people and local bands into semi-famous individuals overnight and I hope that the exchange of communication and ideas continues to thrive between YouTube vloggers and their followers.

But after playing around with the new YouTube layout, I learned that YouTube needs to rethink its website design strategy. I initially thought the new video page was a April Fool's joke. However, when I realized it wasn't, I spammed Twitter, tweeting that YouTube needs to figure out who is on its user-experience team before it makes another decision because the homepage is horrendous. It may have taken YouTube ten months to listen to user feedback to create this new layout, but it needs to reconsider this disaster. First of all, I do not like this thumbs up, thumbs down policy that YouTube implemented to replace the five-star system. What if I like a video, but think it is not worthy enough of a thumbs up? So, the rating of the video is somewhere down the middle. With the new system, there is no middle ground. With the old system, I could have easily graded the video with three stars.

Secondly, I hate the excess of white space on the left side of every page. I think the font size and columns (ie. related videos) were rearranged to give the users a more "user-friendly environment". Despite the influx of spam and racist comments, I personally like the old layout a lot better. This is coming from someone who is a YouTube consumer, not a vlogger. I knew where to go, which buttons to press. Now each page looks bare and out of place. The only new feature that I like is the you can now easily share your favorite YouTube videos with your Facebook friends. Other than that, nothing.

I am glad that the people that I have talked to in person and on Twitter about this issue agree with me 100%. We as fans should contact YouTube and demand the old video page back somehow because I do not want YouTube to be the next MTV. If more fans complain about it, then YouTube will get the message. If they don't, YouTube might continue to develop new design changes without our opinions and eventually go downhill, allowing another online video-sharing website will take its place.

What are your thoughts on the new YouTube video page? What should YouTube do next? Is MTV a has been?

Good Morning, Good Morning to You!

It's the first full week of April and what better way to start this month out than singing along to a Walt Disney classic song (back when Disney was epic) to enjoy with your morning tea or coffee. I swear you if you sing along, it will be make your job a whole lot easier. Enjoy!

Piano Improv Chatroulette Video

Posted by Lady Mel On Thursday, March 18, 2010 0 comments

I find Merton's Youtube improv Chatroulette video pretty interesting. What an inventive way to belittle complete strangers on a virtual website. I wish I had the guts to do this to certain celebrities I do not like. Now that would be a video worth watching!

I advise only mature adults to visit www.chatroulette.com. I know that Chatroulette has become this Internet craze, but I hear there are many perverted men showing their private parts on that site. If you are into those things, be my guest! I prefer to connect with people on "safer" social networking sites instead.

Tech Diva: Magical IPad Parody

Posted by Lady Mel On Friday, February 5, 2010 2 comments

The social commentary continues! Jackfilms presents "The Magical Ipad", a commercial parody that is so full of win. I still on my mini break, but I tweeted on Twitter about the video last night so I had to share it with you guys. It makes fun of the Apple brand, Steve Jobs, and the mixed bag we call the "Ipad". Say this isn't all true?! Watch it below.

Lady Gaga Fans Take Over

Posted by Lady Mel On Monday, January 11, 2010 1 comments

So, I was on Twitter, minding my own business when I happened to come across LadyGaga's Twitter page. She recently tweeted her followers a link. If a celebrity posts a link to a blog, website, or video, you know it must be something big. I clicked on it, only to be transported to a Youtube video with some of her most loyal fans parodying her "Bad Romance" video in someone's house.

Not only it is funny and enjoyable, but Lady Gaga loved it. Trust me, if she did not, she would not have wasted her time posting it up on Twitter to spread the world. The power of Internet sharing and creativity is at all time high these last couple of years. I have seen my fair share of music, political, and movie parodies on YouTube. Even the "Twilight" parodies are more enjoyable than the actual movie franchise.  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattering, I guess. Enjoy.

Youtube for the Holidays

Posted by Lady Mel On Sunday, December 27, 2009 0 comments

This video should be my new theme song. I think someone stole my idea for a Christmas present this year. Just kidding. I am just happy that I am not the only one who wishes this for the holidays. But despite the wishing and desire to achieve a goal, resilience and determination is the key. When I expose my New Years' resolutions later this week, I will further understand this proposition. Enjoy!

Comedy 101: Alphacat Keeps It Real

Posted by Lady Mel On Thursday, December 10, 2009 2 comments

For all of you absentminded people out there who do not get what is happening to this country right now Alphacat, probably known as the best Obama impersonator ever, recently uploaded another of his creative political parodies.

The comedian and YouTube sensation may be a bit biased towards Fox News, but if you could use just leave your biased views out the window (I know it is hard) and take about fifteen minutes of your time to watch the full video, you might be entertained whatever your views are on the political spectrum. So sit back and relax and take this Thriller/President Obama parody for that it really is, comedic gold! Watch it here!

Real IPhone Costumes and Updates

Posted by Lady Mel On Thursday, October 29, 2009 0 comments

Hi, everyone. I am taking a mini break from writing today. I hope you guys enjoyed my intense Halloween drama. I am in the works of planning the last (several as 10/30/09) installment right now. It will be posted by tomorrow afternoon. Please comment on yesterday's blog post and tell what you think so far. For those who do not know, my alter ego is LadyMel and I channel her energy in my blog. I also have some nice, unpredictable things in store for the ending. Or is there an ending to this horror story? Muahahahaha.

In the meanwhile, watch this cool video below. I was snooping on Mediabistro.com last night and I came across it. These two guys are wearing fabulous IPhone costumes that they actually built. They look very creative and usable like real IPhones in the market. I wonder if I can press their buttons. ^.^  I am such a flirt.

Youtube Gold

Posted by Lady Mel On Thursday, October 1, 2009 0 comments

Hi everyone. I love comedy. I love watching funny and inspirational YouTube videos. It is my guilty pleasure. I need laughter to bring me out of the bad times and make me smile and feel that I have a purpose in life. Laughter is the best medicine. Like music, comedy is universal and so, today I want to show you some YouTube videos that I thought were raunchy, hilarious, and bluntly honest about popular culture, politics, social interactions, and anything that tries to define us as individuals in this paradoxical world. I think no matter where we all come from, we all need to smile and forgot our troubles and hardships for just one minute. Here we go!

Kevin's 2009 VMA Review:
If you are not a subscriber of The Skorpion Show on Youtube or not into Youtube for that matter, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Skorpion (aka Kevin) is hilarious in this video as he puts into perspective  the whole Kanye West/Taylor Swift and Janet/Beyonce/Lady Gaga controversies at this year's VMA Awards in NYC. Did I say he was a little tipsy?!

MadTV Teased Us Apple Style:
Now, back in the day I was a pretty big Mad TV fan and now that the show is cancelled (tear), I want to show you guys what made Mad TV 100% better than SNL. In this skit, Michael McDonalds mocks Apple CEO's Steve Jobs, the Apple brand, and the former Bush administration in less than 5 minutes!! Now, that is comedy gold in my opinion.

Katt Williams Does It Again!
The first several minutes of Katt Williams's 2008 comedy performance brought tears to my eyes when I saw it last year. And you will laugh your butt off. I guarantee that! Sometimes our hustles have to be poke fun at in order to help us get through the day.

ARE YOU HAPPY NOW !?!

I am in Love With the Foxx!

Has anyone seen the Jamie Foxx video on Youtube. To make a long story short, he and some of his colleagues harrased Miley Cryus because the members of Radiohead refused to meet her in person. (Come on guys, she's a spoiled brag :D) . They went lalalalala about her doing heroine and making a sex tape with her dad. (IMO! controlling and creepy >.<) You can throw "white bitch" in there in the dialogue and what do you get? A media frenzy! I believe Jamie Foxx publicly apologized to Miley Cryus on the Jay Leno show last night.

But the clip is hilarious! I went on Youtube and I read the most racist and bigoted comments I have even read but you know what? Jamie Foxx is a comedian and an actor. I knew that he was joking. People said why would a 40 year old man with a teenage daughter talk about another seemingly famous teenage girl? Well, he can. Miley Cryus is a product and a commodity of the evil Disney Co. and a waste of hyped-about pop talent. She was angry because Radiohead did not want to see you. She made it a big deal. In this music business, many people lose their humility and instead project a cocky, diva-like attitude. You want to be spoiled? You might as well do heroine with Britney Spears, get chylamdia, and tape yourself having sex with your dad (Bad images in my head >.<). These "bad" qualities make us love celebrity gossip. If you as a professional artist is angry just because a well-known and international band did not want to be near you, then what does it say about your character?
